About Gleim Virtual Cockpit
Use this BATD to maintain instrument currency, cut training costs, and maintain proficiency.
The Gleim Virtual Cockpit is an FAA-approved Basic Aviation Training Device that gives students a lower-cost way to practice procedures, instrument scan, avionics workflows, and scenario-based decision-making between flights.
Students get 30 minutes free after each flight lesson, terms apply. Instructor time may still apply when an instructor is needed for the session.
Loggable hours include 2 hours for private training, 10 hours for instrument training, and instrument approaches for currency. Refer to the LOA for full details.

Rental Restrictions
Rental Insurance Required
- $35,000 physical damage protection from Global or AIG.
- Purchase rental insurance online.
- Typical cost per year: $200 - $400.
Operational Requirements
- Follow all published weather minimums.
- Stay within 115 nm of T67 unless you receive prior approval for Cessnas.
- Use a paved runway at least 3,000 ft long and land within the first 1/3 of the runway.
- Night routes must stay within gliding distance of major roads or runways.
- Multi-day rentals for Cessnas are available by request.
- Operate per Pilot Rise policies, procedures, the POH, and FAA regulations.
- Commercial operations are prohibited. Only Pilot Rise instructors may instruct in our aircraft.

Memory Items
- Anyone acting as the Pilot-in-Command must be proficient with the six required memory items.
- They do not need to be verbatim or in perfect order, but must be completed smoothly, quickly, and confidently.
