Many Pilot Rise students complete private pilot training in approximately 2 to 7 months. The biggest factors are how often you fly, how consistently you study, weather, and your individual progress.
Training two to four times per week usually reduces relearning and helps you finish faster and more affordably.
The FAA minimum is 40 flight hours under Part 61 or 35 hours through an approved Part 141 course. Neither number should be treated as a realistic promise of completion. Most students need additional time to become safe, proficient, and genuinely ready for the checkride.

No. You can begin flying while completing ground school, and many students learn better when flight lessons and ground study happen together.
A student who commits to studying full time can often complete an online ground school and take the FAA knowledge test in about 2 to 3 weeks. The knowledge test must be completed before the checkride. Pilot Rise uses Gold Seal Online Ground School so your instructor can connect your online study with what you are learning in the airplane.
A discovery flight is an introductory lesson that lets you fly with an instructor, take the controls, and experience what private pilot training is like.
It is a good first step if you are still deciding whether flight training is right for you. If you already know you want to begin, you can skip the discovery flight and start directly with Lesson 1.
We begin designated pilot examiner (DPE) scheduling before training is complete. When you are nearing checkride readiness, Pilot Rise coordinates with a DPE to find a workable time while your instructor continues confirming proficiency, paperwork, endorsements, and aircraft readiness.
