WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT
Hicks is an active, friendly airfield, and your first visit is meant to feel easy from the moment you arrive.
Arrive 15 Minutes Early
Plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your lesson. Park in the side garage of our main hangar.
Stay Clear of the Runway
Aircraft always have the right of way. Do not drive on the runway, and be careful around taxiways. Airplanes can take up the full taxiway, so do not pass them.
Take a Tour
Want to see the place before you fly? We are happy to show you around the office, classrooms, hangar, aircraft, airport, and maintenance area.
Meet Your Instructor
Before the flight, your instructor will talk with you about your goals and what brought you to aviation. At Pilot Rise, training is personal. We adjust the pace, focus, and plan to fit you.
Start Flying
You will join your instructor for the aircraft preflight, then head up for a hands-on lesson. We want you to understand what is happening, not just ride along, so you will be introduced to the controls, communication, and real decisions pilots make from day one.

All of the instructors make sure you as a student are learning and retaining the knowledge necessary to safely fly a plane and by doing so, you are well prepared to complete your FAA check ride.
